Like a lot of collectors, I started getting more concerned about counterfeit gold and silver showing up in the market. I decided to invest in professional Precious Metal Verification equipment so I could confidently verify that the metals in our collection were actually genuine.

That’s what led me to start PM Proof.

These verification devices are expensive, and most casual collectors or stackers aren’t going to spend thousands of dollars on equipment they may only use occasionally. I thought it would be helpful to offer a simple, convenient, and affordable way for fellow Minnesotans to verify the gold and silver they’re buying, selling, or already own.

Honestly, this business wasn’t started to maximize profits or turn verification into a high-priced service. My main goal is simply to help people avoid getting ripped off. There are a lot of convincing counterfeit coins and bars out there today, and I know firsthand how stressful it can be wondering if something you bought is actually real.

I’d much rather help fellow collectors and stackers feel confident about their purchases than see someone lose money on fake bullion. PM Proof was built by a collector, for collectors — with the goal of making precious metal verification more accessible to everyday people.
